Creamy Camembert Tartlets
These appetizer tartlets are both savory and sweet and sure to impress.
- 1 pkg. Wewalka refrigerated Puff Pastry dough
- fruit jam for serving (such as raspberry or cranberry)
- 6 medium red onions, thinly sliced
- 4 Tbsp. butter
- 4 oz. camembert cheese
- 3 sprigs of fresh thyme
- 1 sprig of fresh rosemary
- Olive oil for sprinkling
- 1 clove of garlic, minced
- coarsely ground black pepper
- Salt
1. Preheat oven to 400 °F.
2. Melt the butter in a pan over low heat and add onion rings. Add salt and cover, allowing the onions to steam until very soft, about 10 minutes. Season with pepper and minced garlic and allow to cool.
3. Unroll the Puff Pastry on the enclosed parchment paper and place on a baking sheet. Cut the dough into 6 even pieces . Spread the steamed onions onto the center of each pastry square, leaving a little room around the edges for the pastry to puff up. Top each square with sliced camembert and bake for approx. 18-20 minutes or until crust is golden and puffed. Remove from oven.
4. After baking, top each tartlet with chopped herbs and a dash of olive oil. Serve with fruit jam on the side.
